Atacama Desert
Refuge of Aguas Andinas
An unforgettable day in the andean highlands, combining culture, geology and nature. From Socaire and Red Stone to the lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques, you'll interpretive walks, whale fauna plateau and native birds. An experience that unites landscape, history and community in the heart of the Atacama Desert.
Morning – Lee & Red Stone
- 08:30 hrs: Departure from the hotel in a private vehicle towards the andean altiplano.
- Stop in the village of Socaire to observe their traditional stone architecture and agricultural terraces, with brief cultural interpretation.
- 11:00 pm – Admission to the Red Rocks: interpretive walk on the geological formations of volcanic origin and its intense red color.
- Seeing wildlife plateau (vicuñas and vizcachas) in the environment of the salar de aguas calientes II.
- Photo stops strategic to capture the contrast of the rocks, lakes and mountain range background.
Noon – Highland Lagoons (Miscanti & Miñiques)
- 13:30 hrs – Entry to the Lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques:
- Gentle hike around the trails enabled.
- Geological interpretation of the gaps in height and its relationship with the volcanic massif.
- Bird watching (taguas, flamingos, guayatas) in their natural habitat.
- Space of contemplation and photography in an environment of more than 4,000 meters above sea level
Lunch – Lee
- 14:30 hrs – Lunch in cocinería local of the village of Socaire, with traditional menu atacameño (quinoa, lamb, charqui, or typical preparations).
- Conversation with local hosts to reinforce the link culture and community.
Afternoon – Return to San Pedro de Atacama
- 15:30 hrs – Start the return with panoramic views of the andes and the Atacama Salt flat.
- 16:00 – Arrival to San Pedro de Atacama hotel
